Get Ready! Summer Safe Emergency Preparedness Information

Summer's here, and that means outdoor fun — and possible health dangers.Man in the heat with water bottle
Some quick tips for having a disaster-free summer:

• Stay safe in hot weather. During very hot weather, stay inside where it’s cool. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
• Be aware of natural disasters that occur more frequently in the summer, such as hurricanes, wildfires and tornadoes, and be prepared for them.

• If you are going on vacation, know the risks of the area you are visiting, such as tsunamis in coastal regions, and know how and where to take shelter.

• Protect yourself from tick- and mosquito-borne illnesses. Wear insect repellent and be alert for dangers.
