National Women’s Health Week is led by the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services (HHS)
Office on Women's Health (OWH). The 18th annual observance kicks off on Mother’s Day, May 14, and is
celebrated through May 20, 2017. National Women’s Health Week encourages women
to make their health a priority and reminds them to take steps for
better health at every age. HHS OWH encourages women to:
- Visit a doctor or nurse for a
well-woman visit (checkup) and preventive screenings.
- Get active.
- Eat healthy.
- Pay
attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
We hope you’ll join the celebration and help us spread the word using the
ideas below. We’ve included some sample social media messages for you to share,
but please feel free to create your own. Remember to use #NWHW in any messages you share about the week!
