JOB SUMMARY
Manages and directs the appraisal, acquisition, sale, lease, and management of real property for Salt Lake County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field, plus five (5) years of related real estate experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Manages and directs real property acquisition for Salt Lake County, including purchase, trade, lease, and rental.
• Manages and directs the sale of surplus County real property.
• Acts in the capacity of Salt Lake County's water resources manager to coordinate the purchase, sale, and trade of water shares and water well rights.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures relating to all aspects of County real property operations.
• Coordinates with various County departments and elected officials to plan and prioritize property acquisitions.
• Acts as a professional consultant to County agencies and elected officials on issues related to real property.
• Coordinates with State, Federal, and Municipal agencies on real estate related matters.
• Oversees the management, coordination, and schedules of the appraisal of real property to be purchased or sold by the County.
• Negotiates with property owners for the acquisition of land, buildings, easements, and licenses necessary for the construction of roads, parks, county facilities, and open space projects.
• Initiates eminent domain proceedings in behalf of the County, including the preparation of requests for condemnation.
• Arranges and coordinates the relocation of property owners who are displaced by various County construction projects.
• Supervises staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals, and discipline.
• Presents projects and procedures to governmental bodies such a the County Council, Mayor's Office in public meetings.
• Responds to inquiries from the public.
• Manages the Real Estate Section office, filing system, and work schedule.
