Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Leadership Awards
DEADLINE for receipt of nominations is Monday, December 10, 2012
Each year the University of Utah honors outstanding students from across the State of Utah grades 7 through 12 for their dedication to the beliefs of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: social action, positive change and building bridges among cultures and communities.The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Leadership Award Selection Committee invites you to identify and nominate students who demonstrate these attributes in their communities and daily activities for recognition by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee and University of Utah.
To nominate a student please submit the following on behalf of your selected candidates via e-mail or fax to the address provided in the nomination packet which includes:
- Nomination Form
- Letter of recommendation. The recommendation letter is of great importance to the selection process of this special recognition and should reflect the student’s accomplishments in three areas:
- social action
- positive change
- building bridges among cultures and communities. Please note that this is not a scholarship and therefore should not reflect a request for consideration for academic support.
- Personal Statement. The student should submit to you their personal statement. Their statement should not exceed 2 pages, double spaced, 12 font which provide a description of the student’s background and accomplishments with particular attention to the three areas: social action, positive change, and building bridges among cultures and communities.
