Cultural Competency Training


Navigating Difference: Cultural Competency Training

Hosted by Utah Multicultural Affairs
Utah Multicultural Affairs (MCA) is committed to promoting a climate of inclusion by facilitating diversity in state government and the community. As a means of achieving this goal, MCA is providing Cultural Competency Training* to provide state departments, organizations and community leaders with the insight, direction and guidance that will increase the effectiveness of program and service delivery to diverse audiences.

Culturally competent participants will leave with a better understanding of how to:
-Engage in culturally diverse settings, initiatives and programs
-Integrate cultural competencies in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programming.
-Practice strategies for successful intercultural communication in professional settings.

DATES: February 5-7, 2013
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Lunch is provided.)
LOCATION: Multicultural Affairs
300 South Rio Grande Street, SLC
COST: There is no cost to attend. Registration is limited to 30 attendees.

*The training is based on Washington State University Extension "Navigating Difference: Cultural Competency. Training" and is designed to assist outreach professionals to work effectively across many dimensions of diversity including race, sex, age, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, religion, class, philosophy and culture.
